Yachts are moderate sized craft, generally ranging from 40 meters to about 60 meters in length, although it is easy to variants up to 100 meters or more coming out of some shipyards.

Primarily used as pleasure craft, yachts are typically the largest of the privately owned craft encountered. Most larger variants are interstellar capable, while smaller craft may be relegated for interplanetary cruising. Depending upon the region yachts may or may not possesses any armaments, and for the most part are defensive in nature as a deterrent to would be pirates and mercenaries. Many yachts are fitted with a small auxiliary bay for carrying a small shuttle craft or personal craft for forays down to a planets surface, even though the Yacht itself could make the trip, it is less costly energy/time-wise to utilize the smaller craft.
