Starship Design Project:Systems Vehicle

Systems Vehicles are large general purpose vessels ranging from 15 kilometers to 30 kilometers in length.

These massive world-ships are self-contained microcosms of their originating cultures. Traveling almost exclusively in interstellar and extra-galactic space, these vehicles are representative of a true space-faring civilization whom have grown beyond the need of stellar-based settlements. On the rare occasion that such a vessel does enter stellar space it is usually to facilitate the construction of mega-scale structures and or the movement of extreme amounts of mass in short periods of time. Containing all the necessities of a civilization on board, these vessels can construct, support, deploy other vessels and constructs with ease, and provide adequate accommodations for millions of individuals.

Traveling almost exclusively outside of star systems these vessels employ the use of smaller ships to provide egress to and from star systems that the vessel may be passing near at any given time instead of accelerating and decelerating to visit a star system with is largely inefficient for vehicles of this classification. Although capable of being heavily armed and armored, most systems vehicles are reliant upon their own fleets for offensive and defensive purposes, relegating themselves as mobile command bases of sorts, when operating in a more militarized role.
