The Starship Design Project is an effort to create an extensively comprehensive system for the design and engineering of stellar spacecraft. This system will be a generic set of rules and guidelines for constructing and designing starships from base materials all the way to the complete integration of a fully operational starship. Utilizing the projects data, an individual would then be able to recreate any existing fictional starship or entirely new designs down to the most intricate details.
Initially the project is going to focus on designing ships from the Human perspective since that will be easiest for us to comprehend, and once we can flesh this design out we can move in to more exotic, and even possible forms of alien starship designs.

The Starship Design Project will be an ongoing process in compiling detailed information everything conceivable about the design and engineering of an interstellar vessel otherwise known as a starship. From the most granular of levels being the materials that the component and sub-components are made of, to a general performance profile as a complete entity based upon its design.
Compiling all of this information into a reference database, from which any starship based in both fictional and realistic scenarios can be described in intricate detail from the material level on up. The Goals of the project also include details on the manufacturing processes and logistics required in the construction of interstellar vessels, theories on propulsion, performance statistics, operation and maintenance procedures, and more.
