Light Merchants are general purpose cargo vessels usually ranging from 50 meters to around 80 meters in length, however the classification can easily stretch up to 100 meters for some variants.

Light Merchants as the name suggests are used for carrying materials, cargo, and/or passengers. Unlike regular Merchant vessels, Light merchants are typically smaller, faster craft, and capable of moving goods and people to their destination quickly. Almost always equipped for interstellar-flight, rarely are they ever relegated to moving goods on an interplanetary basis alone. Smaller private vessels or couriers are typically relegated to such roles. This classification of vessel is usually fitted with light armament for defensive purposes, but usually isn't as maneuverable as other classification of vessel and may also be accompanied by a escort of some sort. Like many merchants the ship may have a small compliment of specialized sub-craft known as Lifters for moving cargo to and from the ship.
