Light Carrier a light carrier as its name suggests is smaller than a normal carrier classification, and is usually 200 to 260 meters in length.

Carrying only a small compliment of craft usually less than a third than that of a Carrier, these ships are often used as reconnaissance platforms, or relegated to more defensive roles unlike normal carriers being intended as a strike platform. Lightly armored, and moderately armed, these ships, tend to depend upon their escorts and fighter craft for defensive purposes, although they are capable of holding their own against moderate threats.

Although often designed for interstellar flight capabilities, it is rare that a ship of this classification is seen out roaming to far from its base of operations. There may be instances where Interstellar propulsion systems are omitted in favor of more storage or heavier armaments.
