Heavy Merchants are found to be in the range of 230 to 300 meters in length and sometimes can be extended beyond this size when utilizing a more modular design.

Moving Materials, finished goods, equipment, even other ships around, and everything in between is the driving factor for this classification of vessels. Typically equipped with a mini-fleet of their own Lifters, they are capable of moving vast quantities over large distance a in a cost-effective manner. Only lightly armed since most of their bulk is configured for the expressed purpose of transporting, it is not uncommon for such vessels to be accompanied by a small flotilla of support/defense craft. Always outfitted with powerful and redundant drive systems for crossing interstellar distances, most vessels of this caliber will only stop at major ports of call where demand and facilities are appropriate for their operation.
