Gunships are smaller military vessels usually between 40 and 70 meters sometimes are militarized versions of civilian craft.

Quick and Agile, gunships are designed as lightweight craft that bring to bear heavy firepower anywhere and in significant numbers if need be due to their lower cost and ease of construction. Mostly this classification of vessel is limited to interplanetary travel, sacrificing interstellar capabilities and armor for heavier firepower. Utilized as interplanetary patrol craft by both Military and private security forces, gunships are versatile craft for peacekeeping functions where a standard fleet may be excessive. The major caveat of these smaller craft is that against larger capital ships, gunships although able to do some damage, would not last particularly long in firefight given extenuating circumstances.
